Within the framework of this year’s 8th edition of the festival of architecture in Szczecin, Westival 2014, we present an exhibition of the works of professor Adam Maria Szymski. It will be devoted to his achievements in sacral architecture. The main reason for this event is the celebration of his 70th birthday as well as 45 years of his professional work.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on 16 October in the new Philharmonic Hall in Szczecin as a part of the seminar “Achievements of postwar architecture in Szczecin and West Pomerania in comparison with Polish architecture. Attempt to assess”. As an additional attraction, there will be a screening of a 30-minute biographical film showing the profile of the professor.
Definitely it is going to be a great opportunity to become familiar with Professor Szymski works connected with the research on contemporary architecture in Poland – bringing up questions that are raised when architectural theory meets practice.
You are warmly invited!
Quotes from the Professor:
In Polish reality, effective barriers were created, requiring from an architect an unusual ability to compromise…
As a matter of fact, in architecture we always transform old forms, old patterns and old symbols- in a more or less conscious way- not being even sure if we do it right and if it is right.
